Black silicon carbide is produced by composition of silicon and carbon as two basic materials in high temperatures in electric resistance furnace. Silicon carbide is characterised by high hardness, good mechanical resistance, good electrical and heat conductivity and high temperature of chemical decomposition. Silicon carbide is highly resistant to thermal shock and oxidizing effects of the air. Silicon carbide is a chemical compound with permanent and stable character.
Silicon carbide is used for machining of cast iron, non-ferrous metals, glass, rubber, etc. It is widely used as additive to refractories and in metallurgical industry. It is a very hard abrasive used to anchor pattern creation prior to coating or bonding. Silicon carbide is widely used in building construction as none-skid and anti-electrostatic additive.
